Christian Credit Counseling Manager

Christians Against Poverty (CAP) is an exciting pioneering ministry organization with new US head quarters in the Chicago metropolitan area. CAP exists to see the most needy and marginalized set free from the burden of debt and financial crisis through expert credit counseling.

The role of the Credit Counseling Manager is to assist the Executive Director in initially setting up the organization to be able to offer debt management plans which includes getting an organizational quality mark and applying for membership of a trade body. The manager will offer the credit counseling to clients, creating an initial budget and working out the suitable options for a client and then assisting them into their long-term debt solution. As the work grows and dependent on skill set there may be personnel management opportunities or the candidate may specialize in technical expertise. Day to day work includes:

  • Writing procedures and policy for our quality management mark and delivering to a deadline
  • To set up CAP Plans for clients who are visited by a CAP Debt Coach
  • To input data and create financial statements for clients, formulating advice and delivering a range of suitable options appropriate to their specific circumstances
  • To liaise with creditors re any enquiries about the plan or to update them on client’s change of circumstances
  • To facilitate the work of CAP Debt Coaches in relation to their client visits
  • To proactively manage client cases and deal with all postal, telephone and electronic communications within accepted service level agreements
  • To signpost clients to other suitable service providers
  • Being willing to pray with clients over the telephone and share information about church events
  • Being happy to share your coming to faith story and the Christian gospel with callers

 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in relevant field if possible
  • Experience in credit counseling, personal finance, or budgeting preferred
  • Ideally have qualifications as an AFCPE Credit Counsellor or a PFE Certified Debt Management Professional
  • Experience working with low-income families ideal
  • Management or leadership experience preferred
  • The candidate will be able to share their coming to faith story, be a member and regular attendee of a local evangelical church and be able to agree with our statement of faith.

Salary and benefits package available upon application and dependent on experience.
